[englisch 'endəz], John Franklin, amerikanischer Bakteriologe, * West Hartford (Conneticut) 10. 2. 1897, ✝ Waterford (Conneticut) 8. 9. 1985; Professor für Virusforschung an der Harvard University; erhielt 1954 mit F. C. Robbins und T. H. Weller für die Entdeckung der Gewebekultur des Poliomyelitisvirus, die die Bekämpfung der Kinderlähmung durch Massenimpfungen ermöglichte, den Nobelpreis für Physiologie oder Medizin.
